Penrith Castle, Penrith England

We took a day trip to Penrith to just see the castle. The trip ended up being a bit longer than planned. It poured all day, so we had to postpone the castle tour, but spent the day in the numerous chanrity shops in Penrith, and having lunch in the little cafe at Sainsbury.

We did walk on the Poets walk, took the Millennium Trail, for what it was worth...
I thoroughly enjoyed the trip, don't know if the first part was worth it to the boy... He did enjoy running around at the castle.

I know Penrith Castle is in ruin, but I found it to be one of the most interesting castles we had seen. The brickwork, the stone work, and what ws hidden under some of the brickwork was even more in

 Edinburgh Scotland

We spent my son's seventh birthday in Edinburgh. It was a very difficult birthday, his first without his father.  I thought going to the zoo and having a fun time would help him out. He was exhausted at the end of the day, no tears, and I think we made it through the  day, and the whole week pretty well.

Lots of fun at the Zoo

Edinburg Zoo

For my son's birthday, we went to the zoo in Edinburgh. He enjoyed the day very much, I've posted a few photos elsewhere, but thought that I'd compile the day here. This was his seventh birthday, the first without his dad, so I wanted to make it a bit special and I think he was pleased.
